Sport plays an integral role at SJI International. Our students have the opportunity to take part in a range of team and recreational activities as part of our extensive enrichment programme.
Students are selected to represent the school and compete against other schools in both the International schools (ACSIS) and local Singaporean schools (SSSC) leagues. We enter teams in the following sports: football, basketball, badminton, tennis, netball, volleyball, swimming and rugby. In addition to these official school sports, individual students also have the opportunity to represent the school in a variety of other sports, such as shooting, sailing, fencing and Taekwondo through the Singapore Schools Sports Council competitions.
Students who wish to join one of the competitive teams participate in sports trials at the start of each term, where our coaches talent-spot both experienced performers as well as those students who show potential or have a flair for an activity. Training schedules are then developed to build on the core concepts of teamwork and communication while improving skill levels.
The main focus of our school’s Sport Programme is to develop lifelong transferable skills, such as collaboration, communication, resilience and team-work, as well as developing a lifelong love of physical activity.
We are extremely proud of the many of our students who have been selected to represent Singapore in regional and international competition (ACSIS). This includes representation Track & Field, Badminton, Basketball, Football, Netball, Rugby, Cross Country, Swimming, Tennis & Volleyball.
We encourage students to develop their skills in a fun and friendly environment, whilst always showing commitment and dedication. Our list of SSSC competition sports comprises of Fencing. Taekwondo, Track & Field, Cross Country, Swimming, Shooting & Canoeing. Our sporting CCAs consist of Aikido, Floorball , Hip Hop Dance, Rock Climbing & Fitness Training.
