Sciences
Sciences
We aim to develop scientific understanding by creating opportunities for students to question what happens around them. Students learn objectivity and scientific literacy whilst appreciating the need for greater public understanding.
We develop their practical skills so that they can try to answer the questions they pose. Our students develop a critical and analytical way of thinking, allowing them to always work beyond what is presented.
Our Approach to Learning
Our students learn about the basic principles of each subject through a mix of theoretical and practical studies while also developing an understanding of the scientific skills essential for further study. They also learn how science is studied and practised and become aware that scientific research results can have positive and/or negative effects on individuals, communities and the environment.

Beyond the Classroom
Our students are encouraged to take their Scientific prowess beyond the classroom. They are provided with opportunities to take part in a host of Mathematics competitions, such as:
- Chemistry Junior Olympiad
This is a competition run by NUS open to all Grade 9 students where they compete against other Singapore schools to represent Singapore in the international competition.
- Physics, Biology and Chemistry Olympiad
This is a competition run by NUS open to all Grade 11 students where they compete against other Singapore schools to represent Singapore in the international competition.
- ICQ Quiz
This is an international competition run by the Royal Australian Chemistry Institute. Where they compete internationally, this is open to Grades 7 to 12 students.
- LKC Anatomy Challenge
This is a Biology based competition that is run for Grade 11 students.
- STEM Club
The STEM Club CCA is dedicated to igniting a passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics among students in Grades 7-9. Through engaging and hands-on STEM activities, we inspire students to not only deepen their understanding but also cultivate essential practical skills and foster teamwork. Our club goes beyond the classroom, encouraging creativity and innovation as students tackle real-world challenges, from devising solutions for surviving a zombie apocalypse to organising captivating visits to STEM-related museums and companies. Additionally, we actively involve our members in prestigious STEM competitions in Singapore, including Hackathon, SASMO, and others, providing them with guidance and support to excel in these exciting endeavours.
- Field Trips
If students study Biology and/or ESS they will take part in an Ecology residential field trip in order to complete their Internal Assessment. For this, they will develop their own research questions and collect data in the field in order to draw firm conclusions.
