Humanities: Understanding Our World
In Humanities, we empower students to actively engage with the world around them. We provide the knowledge and skills necessary to understand complex information, fostering well-informed, globally-minded critical thinkers. Our students learn to independently evaluate the values, policies, and people they will encounter throughout their lives.

Curriculum Overview
In Grades 7 and 8, students follow tailored programs in Religious Education, History, and Geography. We focus on developing analytical and interpretive skills, alongside a fluent writing style. This equips them to construct clear, evidence-based arguments on various issues and debates.
In Grades 9 and 10, through IGCSE, students can continue their exploration of either History or Geography (or both), and may also consider Economics. Religious Studies remains a compulsory, non-examination subject, but students also have the option to study it as an IGCSE subject. Students joining us on the Grade 10 Foundation Course will study Global Perspectives, exploring contemporary issues. The diverse issues and themes within these subjects allow students to benefit from different approaches to investigation and evaluation.
For the IB Programme, students can select up to two specialisations from a comprehensive range of Humanities subjects, including Psychology and Business and Management, in addition to History, Geography, and Economics. Our emphasis is on stimulating curiosity and encouraging independent thought, developing students who will enjoy a full spectrum of life opportunities and retain a lifelong passion for learning.
Our Approach to Learning
Our passionate and enthusiastic teachers ensure that lessons are active and engaging. Students are encouraged to explore new information, articulate their ideas, listen to the opinions of others, and evaluate the relative merits of competing theories. Rational discourse is a crucial skill. Students dedicate time to selecting evidence that supports particular viewpoints and consider alternative interpretations of the same information. Central to everything we do is the consideration of different cultures, historical causes, and the future implications of our learning. Practical learning extends beyond the classroom. Fieldwork is an integral part of Geography, and all our subjects offer clear, real-world applications, providing excellent platforms for valuable educational visits.
