CASS Programme: Community, Activity, Service, Sport

As a Catholic Lasallian School, we have a common mission to  enable "Enabling students to learn how to learn, and to learn how to live, as Lasallian people for others." At SJI International Elementary School, we enable our students to develop their character, their knowledge of Global Citizenship, and their Lasallian identity through our service programme. We broaden pupils' education at Elementary School beyond the school curriculum by providing practical charitable experiences.

The CASS programme is our own, age-appropriate version of the British Duke of Edinburgh Award or the International Baccalaureate’s CAS programme and is designed to give students opportunities for development beyond academics in areas such as personal responsibility, the building of self-confidence, acquisition of new skills and to encourage a balanced lifestyle. CASS stands for Community, Activity, Service and Sport. The explanations below summarise the big picture for each section.

In Upper Elementary, we encourage all students to participate in various activities in and out of school. For many students, the award will give recognition for hobbies, sports, skills and interests they already take part in. For others, it may challenge them to try new skills and allow our children to be risk-takers. Our enduring aim is to develop our children into well-rounded citizens of the future. The award comprises three levels of achievement – bronze, silver and gold. Credits are awarded at each level, with children aiming to gain a specific number of credits to reach their target.

Throughout the year we celebrate the success of our students in their CASS endeavours, not only to develop the CASS participants but to inspire our younger students to strive to develop themselves and become people for others.

We encourage all to join us and participate in our CASS projects as we challenge ourselves to make a difference in the world today and in the future.
