Faith Formation at SJI International

At SJI International, Faith Formation sits at the heart of school life. It is a continuous and, intentional journey that supports our community in exploring faith, developing a sense of purpose and living out our Lasallian Catholic identity. This journey is rooted in our shared values of Faith, Service, Community, Excellence and Respect.

Faith Formation extends beyond religious instruction. It shapes the wider life of the school, supporting the development of both character and understanding. Through daily prayers, reflections, liturgies, and service, we nurture a community that is rooted in its rich Lasallian and Catholic heritage while remaining open and inclusive.

Our approach is both invitational and respectful of diversity, recognising the different backgrounds and perspectives within our community. Inspired by St. John Baptist de La Salle, we see formation as a shared journey, accompanying students and staff at every stage of their development. Our purpose is reflected in the Lasallian mission to "teach minds, touch hearts, and transform lives".

A key part of this mission is our Faith Formation Road Map, which provides a structured approach to integrating Lasallian values across pastoral programmes, the curriculum and co-curricular life. Each year is shaped by a particular focus: Building Our Foundation in Faith (2023), Growing in Service and Understanding (2024), and Integrating Faith, Service and Community (2025), with future plans to further develop a ‘culture of vocation’ (2026) and strengthen global Lasallian connections in 2027.

The school offers a wide range of Faith Formation opportunities for all members of the community, including students, teachers, staff, parents, and alumni. These include daily prayer, weekly Mass, service-learning programmes like mission trips to Thailand and the Philippines, and community events throughout the year. Activities are tailored to different age groups, including experiences such as the "My Lasallian Journey" Day of Recollection for Grades 9-12.

The school calendar also reflects our Lasallian values, with each value given focus across different periods of the year: Faith (Jan-Feb), Service (Mar-Apr), Community (May-Jun), Respect (Jul-Sep), and Excellence (Oct-Dec).

The Faith Formation team also works closely with student groups to support and guide their initiatives, including Lasallian Catholic Youth, the Lasallian Council and the, Lasallian Youth Movement.
