St. Joseph’s Institution (SJI) International, founded in 2007, is a privately funded Catholic school. It was started by the De La Salle Brothers and alumni of SJI. SJI’s roots date back to 1852 as the third oldest secondary school in Singapore and have a longstanding reputation for offering a high quality holistic and balanced education that emphasises character formation and leadership development.
Over its history, SJI has produced many leaders for the community in diverse sectors such as government, business, academia, church and the community. Our distinguished alumni include former President Tony Tan Keng Yam, Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, DBS Chairman Peter Seah, Senior Counsel Davinder Singh and the Makan Sutra food critic KF Seetoh. These are leaders who have empathy and compassion and who can be effective bridges across races and religions.
SJI International offers a holistic and balanced education that nurtures students to learn how to learn and to learn how to live so that they can be people of integrity and people for others. The school prepares students for the 2-year International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) examinations.
Through the Scholarship Programme, we seek to provide an opportunity for outstanding and suitable students to access the high-quality education SJI International provides. We are thus looking for young school leaders who can demonstrate excellent quality of mind, enthusiastic participation in non-academic activities, positive personal qualities and strong communication abilities. We are looking for students who have completed their SEC 3 (Grade 9/Year 10) for the 3-year scholarship. For the 2-year scholarship, we are looking for students who are on course to achieve 12 points or less in O-Levels (based on preliminary results) or IGCSE equivalent. For the 6-year scholarship, we are looking for students taking the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) at the end of 2021.
All applications will be reviewed and only shortlisted candidates will be invited for testing. The scholarship test will consist of a Maths Test (1 hour), an English Test (1 hour) and a CEM Baseline Test (1 hour).
Refer to the scholarship programme prospectus for the type of scholarships, eligibility criteria and reflection from a former scholar.
Before the scholarship, I had scaled down my aspirations and the pathway to university seemed distant. The nurturing and stimulating environment restored my confidence, self-esteem and enabled me to dream again. Being in SJI International gave me the chance to reach my full potential.” OUR SCHOLAR Jiayi Zhu '(19)
