Singapore Citizens require approval from MOE to attend a Foreign System School such as SJI International Elementary School. Due to current Singapore Government regulations and the limitation on places available for the enrolment of Singapore Citizens, we are not able to accept applications for admission. We are academically selective, and all children must pass an entrance assessment. Prep 1 to Grade 1 will undertake an observation assessment, and Grade 2 to Grade 6 the entrance assessment features computerised testing in English Language, Mathematics and Developed IQ, along with an interview. We cannot admit a wide spectrum of children with special educational needs as we do not have the resources to support them. For the Elementary School, you can apply up to 2 years ahead of the desired year of intake. All applicants will be placed into the Admissions Pool for the respective application grade. Applicants from the Admissions Pool will be considered for places as they become available. Our main entry point for the Elementary School is for Prep 1 and Grade 1 each year. For all other grades, places are subject to availability.

The High School runs an annual admissions cycle that opens 10 months (generally ending Feb/early March) ahead of the commencement of the academic year. All applicants will take part in the admissions process (tests and interviews), and those who are not successful in receiving an offer will be placed into the Admissions Pool for consideration of a place throughout the admissions cycle and the desired year of admission. 

In order to be considered for admission, we encourage you to apply early.

High School - typically families that are applying for Grade 7 will know the outcome of their application by the middle of June. However, places will continue to be offered for the rest of the year as soon as withdrawals are received. For Grade 8 to Grade 11 applications the outcome will usually be communicated to parents from mid of September.

Elementary School - places for Prep 1&2 are usually confirmed in 2 batches, May/June and August/September. For all other Grades, places are confirmed as soon as withdrawals are received.

The Elementary School provides the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), Singapore Math and a modified MoE (Singapore Ministry of Education) Chinese programme from Prep 1 to Grade 6 for our Mainstream programme and the Bilingual Programme Curriculums including IPC, Singapore Math, Chinese Language following the China National Curriculum and follows the Two Way Immersion (TWI) education (50/50) model. At the same time  High School offers the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) from Grades 11 to 12.

Elementary School offers a range of CCAs for children from Prep 1 to Grade 6. They can choose from Sports, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Academics, Environment, ICT and more. Catechism classes are also offered across all grades, as well as an extensive range of instrumental music lessons and tutoring in several languages, including Spanish. In addition to the CCA programme, the PE Department runs a wide range of sporting teams, while the Music Department runs several ensembles, including string and choir.

High School students are offered a choice of more than 50 sports teams (recreational and team sports) to join or represent the school with, more than 20 music, theatre and dance groups, and nearly 80 other clubs and activities as part of our CCA programme in Term One and Two. The majority of these CCAs are offered free of charge.

The academic school year for the Elementary school and the High School runs from January to December, with High School students sitting November IGCSE and IB exams.

The class sizes in Elementary and High School range from approximately 22 to 23 students from Prep 1 to Grade 8. In Grade 9 & 10, the average class size is around 21, while for Grade 11 & 12, the average class size is 13.

Elementary and High School offers 2 Parent -Teacher Conferences (PTC) per year. For the High School’s PTCs, the students are strongly encouraged to attend with their parents. Reports are sent home twice a year, and for Grades 7 & 8, parents will receive periodic ‘snapshots’ of how their child is performing academically. The Class Teacher (Elementary School) and the Form Tutor (High School) also encourage parents to contact them for any concerns.

SJI International High School is one of only three local international schools in Singapore open to both Singaporean and international students, making it uniquely positioned in the education space in Singapore. We are a community of more than 2,000 students from more than 40 nationalities across the two schools on one campus.

SJI International High School opened its doors in 2007 and was shortly followed in 2008 by SJI International Elementary School.

The Elementary School follows the Singaporean curriculum for maths and the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and caters to all children from Prep 1 - 2 and Grades 1-6 (ages 4 - 12), while the High School admits both Singaporean and international students in Grades 7-12 (ages 12-18). Students work towards their IGCSEs and the IB Diploma.

Boarding is available from Grade 9 onwards. We have appointed St Andrew’s Hall, a co-educational residence housing up to 600 students under the management of St Andrew’s Junior College, as our official Boarding House. Please click here for details about this facility. The cost is $930 per month. Students will make their way to and from school via public transport. Breakfast and dinner are provided on all school days, and three meals per day at weekends and holidays.

• High School operates from 8.25am - 3.30pm (Monday-Thursday) and 8.45am to 3.30pm on Fridays.
• Elementary School operates from 8am - 3pm (Monday-Friday).

Are there allergen-controlled meals for the students?
Chartwells prioritises the safety and well-being of all students with a comprehensive food allergy management program. They operate allergen-controlled kitchens, excluding tree nuts, peanuts, crustaceans, molluscs, and sesame from their ingredients. Furthermore, all Chartwells staff undergo rigorous training in handling special dietary needs and food allergens. This ensures every meal is prepared with the utmost care and adheres to the highest safety standards to accommodate students with allergies and dietary restrictions.

We offer Chinese as part of the curriculum and **selected students can consider Spanish from Grade 5.

Yes. Even if we have admission pools for most grades, we also apply our admissions criteria when vacancies arise. e.g. Catholic, Siblings, diversity. 
 

Yes. Our EPSG (Elementary Parent Support Group) is active in the school. They help the school run various events throughout the year, including Sports Day and the Christmas Fair.

As an International school, the Elementary School is very used to new children moving into different Grades halfway through an academic year. The class teacher will work with each new student to integrate them into the curriculum and help plug any gaps that might be needed.
