Welcome To Our Elementary School
In its relatively short history, St Joseph’s Institution International Elementary School has established itself as an innovative, forward-thinking and exciting international school environment for young people to begin their learning journeys.
We are a Lasallian school and are proud of the Catholic ethos and heritage that can be traced back to 1852 when St Joseph’s Institution was founded by the De La Salle Brothers in Singapore.
Set in a beautiful green and central location on Thomson Rd, the Elementary School caters for children from Prep 1 (Aged 4) to Grade 6 (Aged 12). Our curriculum is made up of many well-tried and successful components. In Mathematics, we follow the Singapore Mathematics programme and for Humanities and Science, the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). Chinese is offered to all as a compulsory subject. We have recently added Spanish as an option to our Upper Elementary Students. In Language Arts, we have combined the best of the English National Curriculum with components from the American System in order for us to provide a rich and rigorous programme of learning for our students.
Music, Drama and Art are not neglected with a full calendar of music concerts, drama productions and Art Exhibitions. The completion of a new Creative Arts Building greatly enhance these areas of our rich curriculum. Sport is strong with a large and varied selection of teams competing in the Singapore ACSIS leagues. We have a whole school swim team who compete at all levels in the region.
A good deal of time and planning has been put into the transition programme in Grade 6, and we are delighted to say that the vast majority of our students move onto our High School for Grade 7. Increasingly St Joseph’s Institution International is being seen as providing an outstanding education as an ‘all-through’ school for children from age 4 to 18.
As with all schools, it is challenging to get a real sense of the community from a website. I would suggest that if you are interested in enrolling your son or daughter at SJI International Elementary School, your next action should be to visit the school in person and see our wonderful community in action.
