Robotics Unbound is an organisation that's main mission is to acquaint children from less privileged backgrounds with fundamental robotics and programming skills by conducting lesson for them. This year, 7 students from Grade 9BE1 tutor group got the opportunity to assist the organisation by completing tasks such as writing newsletters, publicity and curriculum development for lessons to be conducted in the future. Robotics Unbound, started by SJII students that came before us, works with numerous community service organisations including Yayasan Mendaki, Touch Young Arrows and The Salvation Army.
Adopting African Penguins!
For the service component of their NYAA award, a group of students from our class decided to raise awareness and funds for the conservation of endangered African Penguin species. They adopted two penguins, Bella and Ben, at the Singapore Zoo. Working towards their goal of raising $1500 for the cause, the team sold Halloween goodie bags after the October break. Some students even got the wonderful opportunity to visit the zoo and meet the penguin's keepers!
We started off the communication sessions with parents sharing the barriers to positive communication and what positive communication looks like.
Through the connecting of supporters and students with anti-slavery NGOs in the global fight to disrupt the exploitation of people, we inspire the legacy of a generation mobilised and empowered to end injustice and pursue their world-changing ideas. This is the 24 Hour Race.
