SJI International hosted its second annual Law Conference on 4th March, which drew in over 180 participants from 12 Singapore schools.
The event was a resounding success, thanks in no small part to the contributions of esteemed law professionals who shared their experiences in the field and engaged in an interactive panel session with questions from the audience. Mr Abhraham Vergis, Professor Benjamin Ong, and Ms Lynette Lim were among the esteemed panellists who shared their knowledge and expertise with the attendees.
For the second half of the day, participants were divided into teams of six to participate in a mock trial for one of two cases. Each room was overseen by trained students from Hwa Chong International School, while volunteers acted as witnesses for each case. Awards were presented to the best speakers in each room and the best team per case during the conference's closing ceremony.
None of this would have been possible without the months of planning and preparation undertaken by the LawCon team, led by Diya Bhutani (President) and Janine Tan (Vice-President), as well as their supervisor, Ms Amy Lucas. The event was a true testament to their hard work and dedication to promoting knowledge and understanding of the law in the community.
The success of this year's conference has left many eagerly anticipating the upcoming "SJIIxHCIS LawCon, at HCIS," which is set to take place later this year.

Our community gathered last night for our annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony 2023.
It wasn’t love at first sight. The car ride was so awkward one could only hear teenager Matthew whispering a lot of “indeed”.
