On 24 September, we celebrated Gold Day at the Elementary School in support of International Childhood Cancer Awareness.
Children were invited to wear a touch of gold or yellow, and a special assembly was held, featuring a message of thanks from the Children’s Cancer Foundation (CCF), our Gold Day beneficiary over the past few years.
CCF is a non-profit organisation with a mission to improve the quality of life of children with cancer and their families through enhancing their emotional, social and medical well-being. One of our Elementary School families has been a beneficiary of the CCF and knows first-hand the positive difference this organisation makes to the lives of children living with cancer here in Singapore.
As of writing, $10,336 has been raised for this initiative.
Ms Amy Malone, Elementary School Teacher and Gold Day organiser, said: “This was our 5th annual Gold Day here at SJI International Elementary School. Our community’s generosity was evident, with donations towards the CCF beating previous records and totalling over $10,000! We love our school lighting up gold to help spread awareness of childhood cancer and thank our community for their generous support.”
