Our students had a very successful Music Tour in Phuket from 2-5 February, collaborating with British International School, Phuket (BISP).
This marks the first-ever Music Tour for our school. Students enjoyed collaborative music rehearsals, a sunset dinner on the beach and at the Phuket Lookout, a visit to an elephant sanctuary, and the highlight of the Tour: a combined SJI International x BISP concert at the Andamanda Water Park, accompanied by the park’s dancing mascots.
SJI International and BISP musicians performed their renditions of pieces, including African Alleluia by Jay Althouse, Kingdom Dance By Alan Menken and Surf Medley Mash Up, to name a few.
Mrs Ineke Thorpe, Head of Music (Performance) in the High School, said: “Our first-ever overseas Music Tour to Thailand was in collaboration with the British International School of Phuket, who were the most wonderful hosts. Our students had opportunities to explore an elephant sanctuary and visit Big Buddha and the beach; however, the weekend's highlight was seeing students of all ages and backgrounds come together through music performance.”
SJI International hosted its second annual Law Conference on 4th March, which drew in over 180 participants from 12 Singapore schools.

It wasn’t love at first sight. The car ride was so awkward one could only hear teenager Matthew whispering a lot of “indeed”.
