St Joseph's Institution (International) will be offering up to $3 million worth of open scholarships over the next two years to bright students from Singapore and the region.

The funds come from donors in Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand.

A*STAR is also going to sponsor five regional students a year under its Young Researchers' Programme to study in SJI International.

SJI International is the third privately funded school in Singapore, and it will open its doors in January next year.

The fees at SJI International will be higher than government schools.

25 percent of its students are expected to be from the region, while another 25 percent are expected to be from expatriate families based in Singapore.
